To Protect and Serve: The Relationship Between Law Enforcement & Urban Youth Work

The purpose of this panel is to point towards effective and practical actions for both sides to work together. The BIG idea is that youth workers can bridge the divide between law enforcement and urban youth, to bring healing to their communities. Attendees will walk away with key principles on how to begin the healing discussion, as well as lessons learned to continue through the tough moments.

Ana Gioconda Jara has years in non-profit management and community capacity development. Her foundation was Christ-Centered ministry that focused on seeing and loving people. Best known for being a bridge builder, Ms. Jara has served youth for 20 years. She has brought her talents and passion back to her hometown where she currently resides with her husband Robert.

Director of Partnerships & Collaborations, Lake Avenue Community Foundation
Eric V. Johnson has served urban youth for 40 years as a pastor/director/educator. He currently serves as the Director of Partnerships & Collaborations for the Lake Avenue Community Foundation. He is responsible for building support and advocacy within the school district around systemic issues impacting vulnerable families in Pasadena, CA, where he resides with his wife, Ana Maria.
