Most people are unaware that the Declaration of Independence, 30 lines below the statement "all men are created equal," refers to the Native Americans as "merciless Indian savages." In this seminar, Mark Charles will provide a Native's perspective on how a racist 15th century "Doctrine of Discovery" has influenced the very foundations of the United States of America.

Mark Charles is a dynamic and thought-provoking public speaker, writer, and consultant. He writes for Native News Online and his personal blog "Reflections from the Hogan". He served on the boards of the CCDA and the CRCNA. Mark also consults with the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship and is a founding partner of a national conference for Native students called “Would Jesus Eat Frybread?”.
